Effective Community Engagement
with Design Thinking
設計思維及有效的社區參與

Community engagement is essential for a variety of industries these days and comes in many forms; whether you are social workers meeting beneficiaries regularly, design professionals understanding user needs to design future spaces, or public servants trying to improve public services. But is your community engagement effective? Is it fun, engaging, collaborative, and insightful? From first-hand experiences, we know how design thinking could be useful in making engagement effective. In this course, we will look at different design thinking tools and practical tips that can be easily applied to engagement, and wrap up with a one-on-one clinic session to answer any unresolved struggle and frustration!

如今，社區參與對於各種行業都至關重要，並且有多種實踐的形式。無論你是定期與街坊開組會面的社工、要了解用家需要以設計空間的專業人士，或是試圖改善公共服務的公務員，相信都會接觸到社區參與。但你的社區參與有效嗎？它有趣、有吸引力、協作性、且富有洞察(insights)嗎？我們從親身經驗中知道設計思考如何能有助提高社區參與的效能。在本課程中，我們將研究不同的設計思考工具和實用技巧，了解如何將這些工具輕鬆應用於社區參與，並在課程最後設有一對一的會議以回應任何未解決的難題！

Who is this course for?

Engagement Practitioner: For engagement practitioners who have been working in the field of engagement for some time now, but perhaps not intersecting it with design thinking yet, and are interested in doing so.

已經在社區參與領域工作了一段時間，但可能尚未將設計思維融入其中，並且有興趣這樣做！

How does the course work?

  • Five in-person sessions including four three-hour classes and one hour of private clinic session

  • Classes are conducted in Cantonese, physically in Sheung Wan

  • 10-12 people/ class

What does the course offer?

  • Ways to apply design thinking to improve the effectiveness of engagement, to make it more fun, engaging, collaborative, and insightful

  • Dive into the success and failures behind onebite’s past projects in public engagement and design thinking

  • Interactive small-group practices led by experienced facilitators 

  • A 1-on-1 one-hour clinic session for each participant to chat with a trainer to discuss any course-related issues
