8月16日 16 August 6:30-8pm
Photographer Vincent Yu will share with us why he initiated doing this photography research project on SKM Mei Ho House (now turned HK Youth Hostel) while he was a full-time photojournalist with Associated Press, covering major news events across the Asia-Pacific region since the mid-1980s.
Yu is an award-winning photographer whose works cover both the journalistic and documentary genre. His unique sensitivity towards the territory's ever-changing cityscape and living environment are often reflected through his images. He is the first Hong Kong photographer to have been recognised by World Press Photo and his works are being collected by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. He was the Chairman of the Hong Kong Press Photographers Association, and a founding member of the Hong Kong International Photo Festival. From 2010- 2012, he also operated The Upper Station Photo Gallery in Hong Kong.

Since entering the world of book publishing in 2001, MCCM Creations’ aspirations have remained consistent to bring readers original and inspiring books from authors and designers who share a passion for books as objects, as well as a strong desire for exploring hybrid concepts. Our titles are about the visualization of experiences, stories and perceptions through the printed word, images and sound. We live in an age where people move freely across boundaries and inhabit areas of virtual space that intertwine to create new concepts and ways of living. These cross-disciplinary realities are at the core of MCCM fusing illustration, visual art, design, architecture, photography, socio-cultural criticism and literature. MCCM titles have a strong cultural slant that falls into two broad categories: i) visual culture books related to architecture, art, and design in Hong Kong and neighbouring regions; and ii) illustrated fiction and picture books for children and young adults with the aim of nurturing intellectual and aesthetic development beyond the regular school syllabus. A majority of our titles are published in English or in bilingual (Chinese-English) editions.
