We regularly collaborate with speakers from diverse backgrounds—including former employees of Chun On Pawn Shop, historical experts, shop owners, residents and cultural practitioners—to share about the history and evolution of Chun On Pawn Shop, pawnbroking culture, and Wan Chai from multiple angles. Held within the authentic, historic walls of Chun On Pawn Shop, these sessions go far beyond "listening to stories", fostering a deeper connection to the past while bringing the community closer together.

保育香港唐樓遠非外界眼中那般浪漫，這是一場在凝聚文化記憶、應對日益欠佳的居住環境，以及面對現實的經濟壓力之間，不斷拉扯的角力。活在山下基金會的誕生，正是不願看著「有記合」（上環皇后大道西1號）等歷史地標悄然消失；即使傳統地產發展顯然是一條更輕鬆的路，他們仍毅然承擔起私人業主的責任。在這次分享會中，活在山下基金的Vanessa與Roger將以業主視角，親身訴說一路走來的點滴、現實困境與見解，並一同探討如何超越單純的「保護」，而是真正落實古蹟保育與活化再利用。
Reality Check of Tong Lau Preservation
Preserving Hong Kong's tong lau is rarely as romantic as it looks from the outside; it is a constant tug-of-war between honouring cultural memory and surviving cold, hard economics, not to mention the deteriorating living conditions in some of them. The Lion Rock Heritage Foundation (LRHF) was born out of a refusal to let historic landmarks like the Yau Kee Hop (1 Queen's Road West, Sheung Wan) fade into memory, taking on the responsibility of private ownership when conventional development offers a far easier option. In this dialogue, Vanessa and Roger of LRHF will share their stories, perspectives and realities they have encountered as owner, and advocate for not only preservation, but also conservation and effective adaptive re-use.
